Howdy, gang. Sorry to be late with some commentary today. I've relocated to Orlando for a couple of weeks or so to teach a course. Things should be a little better after today. Here are a few stories of interest. First, what do you do when your behavior cannot stand scrutiny? Well, you tell the folks challenging that behavior that they are helping the enemy by questioning him. What better way to obscure things? Notice also, in this article, this line by Bush: Bush acknowledged differences over Iraq, "Whether you agree with me or not, we're doing the right thing." This guy could use a touch of epistemic humility. While we are on our prez, it looks like the domestic spying gets bigger and bigger, the more we find. As a result, we are hearing the "i" word more often. Who knows what will become of it, but a recent non-scientific poll by MSNBC, with over 200,000 responses was running 86% in favor. It means little, but surprised me. Of course, what this will mean in the mid-terms is anyone's guess at this point.
On some unrelated notes, some scientists think we might be seeing the formation of a new ocean in Africa and the ice caps are disappearing at an alarming rate. Some are suggesting that anti-environmentalists have succeeded in delaying action past the point of any return. Also, the new bankruptcy laws seem to be working. Let me hear your thoughts.
