Go Haile!!

Two hours, four minutes, and twenty-six seconds.  I have never run one mile as fast as this guy averaged for twenty-six.  Go Haile Gebrselassie.

Here a song for you. It's not loaded with meaning, it's just fun. Because I love Weezer and I love Muppets.

hey, everybody. how about chatting here? the first post is now full and difficult to navigate just to say hi. so hi here! and we can get a bunch of posts going....

Much better. I'm supposed to be getting ready for Christmas but it's too warm. It doesn't feel like Christmas.

at least you don't have ice, kate! so far my part of illinois has been spared but, oh, goodness, not far from here, in missouri, ice has taken out trees and power lines and caused a lot of problems for a lot of people. i was in puerto rico for christmas one year. talk about warm and it not feeling like christmas! but the locals were having a fine time.

this is much better.

I'm glad the ice missed you. The only other country where I've spent Christmas is Germany. They have a good time also. They have huge Christmas markets with good food. Yum.

good food anywhere i enjoy. when i was in scotland we were on the street wondering where to eat real scottish food. a lad not far from us must have been listening cause he said, "scottish food. it's crap!" that was so funny and unexpected we laughed and laughed and have never forgotten that most memorable moment in scotland!

To quote Michael Myers from "So I Married an Ax Murderer"

"I'm convinced most scottish food was the result of a dare."

great line, kate! i haven't seen that movie. i'll have to. maybe that's why there are so many mcdonalds and pizza huts in scotland!

I'm not a huge Mike Myers fan but I really liked him in that one.

i'll catch it on reruns at some point, i'm sure.

it snowed here over last night so the farm was all white this morning. then it rained. hopefully the it doesn't get super cold and the rain turns to ice. hate that ice. parts of the midwest got socked again!
yikes.

many blessings to all this christmas season.

and may we all meet here again in the new year.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Hey Chuck! Are you out there?? Does anyone know if Chuck is blogging somewhere else? I really miss following his perspective on the news and this group's dialogue. The last I heard, Chuck had taken an executive position with Sojourners which, I suppose, means he is no longer teaching at the seminary... :-( Well, hopefully, the New Year will bring new activity to this site. In the interim, may you all have a blessed Christmas and holiday season!

Has Imitatio Christi ascended?

Yea, tho appeareance is such, it lives in our hearts as we go forth spreading it's dialogical socio/political format of shared "news & opinions" in the fomented perusings of Chuck's spiritual contemporary assessments with electronic friends.

Impeach Cheney/Bush.

david, if it's just you, kate and me, we'll do well. "when two or more is gathered in his name....."

yes, definitely impeach bush/cheney.
then nancy pelosi and harry reid. i wish the dems in congress would get rid of them as their leaders. or, better yet, their constitutients vote them out of office!

take heart, friend. it's possible to impeach a president after his term in office has ended (not that i'm calling bush president cause he's not).

Jesus' dad must surely have taught him how to make a yoke. I believe this must be true.
Twelve yokes at first and then, man... many more. The Artificer sculpted many yokes over the years. All were rough hewn to the eye and to touch but somewhere inside a person they, the yokes, are known as exact and ultimately functional without failure. Yep. Yokes for the oxen to pull the plough. I explain to Piggly Wiggly Age of canned goods when you do not know the earth. You come out of your house, your home, and you step on concrete and you step into a Ford designed by a Henry (Ole'punch in and punch out) for your factory pay and you drive and you step out onto pavement and you step into an air conditioned architecturally corrected modified glorified cave and you do not know the earth even with the soles of your feet. If smelled... the earth that is much with death and rot and excrements of ducks and such... a gagged reflex in the stomach from a lack of life knowledge and experience. Seeds are important. They are what’s it all about. The seeds go into the ploughed earth. What the seed is is. The mystery is still there. It is not like opening up a labeled can and there it is like the picture on the label. The seed might be a barren fig tree or not. So hinted at now it comes to this: a person has handled the plough and driven the oxen taken the seed and tossed it out and then done time by cleaning the plough and grooming the oxen s the sun rises and sets without a timeclock's card to punch. But in order to understand the thing of Jesus one must understand the twelve are humans and many more after them. Yokes for you and me. Seeds are us. We are the plough and the yolk... OH GOD YOU ARE GREAT AND AWESOMELY BEAUTIFULLY FULLNESS. And asking why after some bit of time after the excitement has fallen down, but not you nor me, then, we know faith... it comes in great trembling (s) and fears and years of grief and joy too... awesome blessed joy! Know faith even sticking the metal can opener to the can... know faith. Know that when there is no yolk nor oxen nor plough nor earth nor seed nor human with a can of beans and a can opener nor Henry Ford's galvanized thrice red paint coated limosine, yet, there is faith and fullness. I believe... zero... I believe. Kate, you know what aggravates me about "Overboard" is the "hunks" macho self assuredness while we see the "rich bitch" has to come to know life as does a carpenter and his kids. Something awry about the various Marys not being there. Putt-putt redemption!? Yep. Redemption is redemption, eh? Life becomes a hole in one.

there's ferver in them there words, my friend, but i'm lost; really lost.

Yep. zero,
It was the red red Shiraz from Down Under. One glass. Sorry about the muddle. Basically I got to reading Dostoyevski and took off on a rant like he does in the end of The Brothers Karamazov... confessions of an atheist in a believer's mimic'd voiced. Odd stuff. Kind of convoluted. My apologies.

If you can open this up you might enjoy reading an elderly woman Quaker's take on "character" that goe not just into such as a single human but also a nation.

jesse james and richard nixon. those are two quakers who didn't get the message. but that's true of so many others. what i hate most about adults behaving badly is we insist that children do and they see all these adults, particularly in important positions, not being of good character. i think kids should revolt.

ah, i get it now, david. a frame of reference helps. keep rambling, just give me a clue so i can keep up!

Well,zero, ramblin' on....
Epiphany, today-Jan.6-2008, is about Jesus and the meaning therein is about us and God. Our character and Him, light in darkness. 12 days, Dec. 25-Jan.6 of Christmas has given way to WalMart removing their eggnog on the 26th of Dec.to replace it with Cherry chocolats for Valentine's Day. What about the Lord of love and life?? I had an epiphany while listening to Scripture being read. The wise men were not Jewish but scientists/astrologers/from "afar" come to worship God-babyman while the Jews for whom he was of were all upset and behind Herod the Mean... "King Herod and all of Jerusalem" it says wanted nothing to do with their "Messiah" of whom the Wise men spoke. Boy do we "get it wrong" as even Cheney/Bush were supported by the religious Christian right to bring violence upon humnaity in the name of $ and nationalism... and not God in the name of Jesus.
NAU Psalm 4:6 Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?" Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O LORD!
7 You have put gladness in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine abound.
8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.
But:
NAU Psalm 5:9 There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.

11 But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.

Impeach Cheney/Bush! Put good character's integrity into a nation without boundaries nor pride in flag as that nation strives to do good instead.
peace.

it's all about the money, david. all about the money. when i was raising my family, we put up our christmas tree on christmas eve, decorated it as part of our christmas celebration. it wasn't a chore doing it that way. until then we did the advent observance each day. then we celebrated the actual 12 days of christmas, ending with today. we were always out of sync with the rest of the world, but, hey!, who cares?

zero, what about Obama??

booooooo!!!!!......

I don't know who I'm voting for. I'm not used to it mattering because it's usually all over by the time I get to vote.

maybe that won't be the case this year, kate.

it's already not the inevitable that the stoopid press keeps telling us it is. two states thus far, two different results. i like that. i don't want it to be inevitable or over before it even begins.
