The More You Hear.....

We live in strange and bizarre times.  First, this piece comes from last night's 60 Minutes relating to "dissension in the ranks" of the military.  Note this quote from a soldier involved with the show:

"Just because we volunteered for the military doesn't mean we volunteered to put our lives in unnecessary harm and to carry out missions that are illogical and immoral."    -Marine Sgt. Liam Madden

Well said!
In this one, we are hearing that a number of senior military officials are planning to resign if the president decides to take on Iran.  More left wing loonies, no doubt.
An, related and perhaps most disturbing, is this interview with Sy Hersh.  The administration is being reported as providing support for al Qeda.  Didn't Bush call this treason?  Here is the key quote from the interview:

We are simply in a situation where this president is really taking his notion of executive privilege to the absolute limit here, running covert operations, using money that was not authorized by Congress, supporting groups indirectly that are involved with the same people that did 9/11, and we should be arresting these people rather than looking the other way

If possible, take a look and make your own judgments.  Hersh has seemed right more than wrong on these sorts of reports.

Although I greatly appreciate these people in the military in Bush's war speaking sooo wonderfully bravely for their insights and beliefs against this war which they are profoundly, radically attached I really pray that this opening of mind will happen, their minds along with others: I will study war no more and they lay their weapons down... (as the gospel song goes, down by the riverside.) And the Spirit of peace takes hold of their lives. Maybe I am wrong in my interpretation of God's revelations for humanity in Christ's messages and these people maintaining their militaristic position but not maintaining the amorallity of the present war already are in step with Lord Jesus.

As for my pacifist point of view I read that even though Jesus asked if his apostles had a sword or two amongst them and they affirmed one or two and they would get more and he said rather wryly, perhaps ironically, no more that;s enough... I read that I never read that they used a sword ever except to be rebuked once at Mount Olivet at night for striking the ear off a man, a lowly servant, who then received the last healing miracle Jesus performed and had his ear returned. Gosh, how many times could these men of such power in the Holy Spirit have been warriors of the sword quickened at Pentecost and yet we never read that they were the killing sort nor that they preached to kill others is the way to the Kingdom of God.

thank goodness someone in the military was heard saying just because we volunteered doesn't mean we volunteered for anything and everything! it'll be cool to watch all those high ranking military dudes resign in protest when the war against iran begins. mutiny!!!!!

I think we are going to see the troop surge headed for Afghanistan rather than the hot topic and now very unpopular Iraq surge. Watch. Either way it is a dangerous Bush/Cheney machivellian world we live in because America refuses to impeach them.

Interesting, cause they tried to off Cheney??
