Good evening, fellow bloggers! It is good to be back, so let me get right to a few news links for today. There were many, and I am linking nothing on the Haggard story until we get to a little better evidence. So, first, the sheer incompetence of the current administration on the Iraq front seems to reach new levels of absurdity on a daily basis anymore. Earlier today, I linked the commentary from Michael Novak. Here is a link to a short commentary by Andrew Sullivan. He is completely correct when he observes the extent to which this would be "huge news" if we had a dem administration. Why is that? Oh, and in comparison to the botched Kerry joke (check it out for yourself to see the goofy spin from the administration), check out our fearless member of the house leadership. Second, don't you find it remarkably embarrassing the extent to which the repubs are trying to block voters who might vote against them? Poor voters, voters of color, what's up?? Here is one, and, this attempt in Texas, and this one in Ohio. Who hates our freedoms? But, then, when you have this many scandals to work around, I guess you have limited choices, eh?
I have blogged before about the fundamental illegitimacy of cluster bombs, and the basic reason is outlined here--those most injured are not involved in the war.
Finally, wanna check out some funny videos--or, at least, humorous attempts by Bush to play both good cop and bad cop....
Finally, I've found a way to get through. Take that Typepad. :-P
Anyway, I couldn't believe my ears yesterday when I heard Rep. Boehner tell Wolf Blitzer that we shouldn't blame Rumsfeld for what's going on in Iraq. If the Army's going to be insulted by Kerry's comment, how much more insulting is it that these folks are blaming the generals for the troubles in Iraq.
The rumors going around the Army before the war started was that "everything" had to go across Rumsfeld's desk. That's how micro-managing he was.
Now, to get on with all the other things that I wanted to say. I think zero called me wimpy. zero, I'm left-handed too. Does that make me extra wimpy? ;@)

Yea Lefties!

zero/Kate: you're both lefties - explains a lot! ;-) Any righties on this blog?
Posted by: jerry | November 03, 2006 at 09:35 AM
Why, Jerry, we're all right, that's why we're here:>)
Posted by: chuck | November 03, 2006 at 11:27 AM
we lefties are right, chuck.
don't know about the righties being right!
ok on the wimp stuff, kate!
it would be better if the lefties really didn't cave when they are bullied by the righties. the right never backs down. and even when the left should (and does), they look in constrast, to be wimps! as bad as being a liberal. (i would contend jesus was both)!
there's a neat blog over on the huff post wherein everyone who wanted to come up with something the bush company should apologize for. the list on that blog is very very long. we might see such a list on free speech tv but not msm. that's part of the problem. whoever thinks the media is run by the left is delusional.
Posted by: zero | November 03, 2006 at 12:19 PM
oh, and research indicates lefties are smarter than righties!
nothing wimpy about that!

If each side of the brain controls the opposite side of the body, we're the only ones in our right minds, zero... :-)

exactly, brad! scary thought! =]
Posted by: zero | November 03, 2006 at 01:24 PM
Good one, Brad...I forget though, is it the right side is logical and the left side artistic or the other way around?
Posted by: jerry | November 03, 2006 at 02:04 PM
Your answer might help me make sense out my sister-in-law's comment, "why do you think they call it, 'liberal arts'?!"
Posted by: jerry | November 03, 2006 at 02:06 PM
We lefties are intuitive, creative and better underwater swimmers (no joke, I read that somewhere).
Actually I'm not really very creative. The only real difference that I can tell is that left-handed people went through school with ink smudges and spiral notebook imprints on their left hand.

the study that cites lefties as smarter had to do with linking hand use to iq scores. lefties won. big whoop.
Posted by: zero | November 03, 2006 at 04:25 PM
Which all just goes to show I'm doing okay for a right-hander:>)
Posted by: chuck | November 03, 2006 at 08:15 PM
Typically, right-brained/left-handed people tend toward more creativity while left-brained/right-handed people tend toward more analytic ability, or so they say. I did read once that contrary to some popular views of lefties as clumsy, in actuality, things are designed for right-handers, so lefties get more injuries. I know I would have liked more left-handed desks in school (they would have helped me be more analytical, you know)... ;-)
Whatever. My favorite thing is the "left-handed mug," with a little hold in the side to the left of the handle...

Yeah, but Jimi Hendrix pllayed a right handed Strat, strung upside down. So, that settles it:>)
Posted by: chuck | November 04, 2006 at 08:38 PM
that definitely settles it.
