Well, here is another piece that seemed to me worthy of posting on its own. Molly Ivins is proposing that Bill Moyers run for president. Does she think he can win? Well, no. But, I think she is on to something with the idea that idea that there are very few people who could actually impose some decent level of morality upon the discourse. One never knows this for sure, of course, but check it out and let me know what you think. For sure, we could stand some improvement in the quality of the moral discourse.

Having someone in office that does not blur the lines between being a Christian and a nationalistic patriot? What a great dream! It would be very refreshing to have a democrat run that actually has something important to say besides, "Our current administration isn't doing a good job." Running Moyers would actually make sense for carrying middle America in the elections--if he could get that far.

Even if he couldn't, he might add some moral depth to the remarkably shallow offerings of either side.

Moyers for President, absolutely.
In contrast to today's "christians", Moyers doesn't tell me about his beliefs nor does he tell me that I must believe as he does or I am neither a "christian" nor a patriot, but he expresses his faith through his words and his deeds. Somewhere along the way, I came to believe that this was the message of Christ.
